A new generation of indestructible bridges could be possible, thanks to research from the University of Warwick.

Image
Emeritus Professor Wanda Lewis in the School of Engineering has taken a design process called 'form-finding', inspired by the natural world, to another level. Form-finding enables the design of rigid structures that follow a strong natural form -- structures that are sustained by a force of pure compression or tension, with no bending stresses, which are the main points of weakness in other structures. This could, for the first time, lead to the design of bridges and buildings that can take any combination of permanent loading without generating complex stresses. Such structures will have enhanced safety, and long durability, without the need for repair or restructuring. Read More...

But it is a proven fact that 9 out of 10 startups fail within 3 years of initiation which is as high as 80% of the total startups. You will come across stories of success and achievements of many companies but very few will come forward with their reasons of failure. But it is only through failures that one can learn the best. There are multiple reasons for the failure of tech startups today.  1. how to Create Chat Bots with no Clue about Coding

Image
Artificial Intelligence and Chat Bots are considered to be the next big thing. These two technologies are supposed to provide support or sometimes control everything around us, be it cars, lights, TVs, mobile apps, services, and other electronic devices. And we are not talking about distant future, it's already happening around us. Big names like Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. are implementing them in their new products, for instance- the latest Google Pixel handsets are backed by AI tool Google Assistant, Apple Siri is already quite popular and Facebook is also using chat bots in its Messenger app. The day is not far when everyone will have a personal bot  offering its services to manage their entire digital life and make things much easier for them. Having said that, there's a great demand for young minds who can think out of the box and create bots to execute digital tasks seamlessly. This is where Gupshup, a cross-channel botplatform offers its service...

watch 3D videos/Movies on android without special glasses

Image
You could soon watch 3D videos on your Android without any special glasses using the new displays developed by scientists. You could soon watch 3D videos on your smartphone without any special eyewear, thanks to scientists who have developed a way to make displays for small screen devices that offer both 2D and 3D imaging. For eyewear-free displays, the only action is behind the screen where the image’s pixels and optics are layered together to produce the stereoscopic effect. The two primary ways of producing these optically illusive effects are by using either an array of micro-lenses, called lenticular lenses, or an array of micro-filters, called parallax barriers, in front of the image to make its appearance depend on the angle at which it is being seen. read more..

Mozilla launches ‘Equal Rating Innovation Challenge’

Image
Free-software community Mozilla on Tuesday announced the launch of its global "Equal Rating Innovation Challenge" “This challenge is designed to spur innovations for bringing the members of the next billion online,” said Katharina Borchert, Chief Innovation Officer, Mozilla, in a statement. According to the data from a 2014 McKinsey report, India comes under the “Medium-High” category of regions facing barriers for Internet adoption. Broadly, the challenges are due to lack of incentives and infrastructure as well as mixed demographics. “Connecting the unconnected is one of the greatest challenges of our time,” Borchert added.                                                 Click here for submission read for more info

find vehicle registration details by APP(Car Info Vehicle Registration)

Image
Car Info Vehicle Registration Finding the details of an errant driver on the road is a pain, but a new app aims to make the process easier. Named 'car Info Vehicle Registration', the app can be used to find the details of all types of vehicles registered with the Regional Transport Office of India (RTO India), including cars, motorcycles, autos, trucks, etc. After entering the registration number of the vehicle, you can find details such as the owner's name, date and city of registration, vehicle class, make & model, age, fuel type, engine number, and chassis number. The data is seemingly extracted from public records; however, the easy availability of the engine and chassis number may be a cause of concern for some. There is no associated address or phone number on the app.

Ocean Cleanup(new way)

How We Showed the Oceans Could Clean Themselves - Boyan Slat on The Ocean Cleanup This is an interesting talk on an important topic: cleaning up plastic in the ocean. ,a student from the Netherlands, looked to find a solution to a problem others said couldn’t be solved. This is exactly the type of wonderful activity that inspired people can accomplish using science and engineering. He collected an understanding of the 50 issues that supposedly makes a solution impossible. After getting funding (sparked by an explosion of viral Social Media) he worked on exploring the “insolvable” problems (having withdrawn from school to work on this problem). It is wonderful to see what we can do when inspired people use science and engineering to make the world a better place. From their website,  The Ocean Cleanup

ADI buys deterministic Ethernet chip firm

Image
Analog Devices has moved into the market for real-time Ethernet with the acquisition of US-based firm Innovasic, which has developed interface chips for deterministic Ethernet. Analog Devices has moved into the market for real-time Ethernet with the acquisition of US-based firm Innovasic, which has developed interface chips for deterministic Ethernet. Seen as a high speed alternative to the serial fieldbus networking protocol in  factory automation, robotics and industrial IoT, real-time Ethernet is the focus of a new standards push for robust, synchronised networks. The IEEE has recognised that new standards will be required to enable Ethernet to meet the determinism demands for these emerging applications and is developing the new Time Sensitive Networks (TSN) standards. Innovasic has been playing a role in addressing some of the early requirements of these new IEEE TSN standards. A deterministic Ethernet protocol could have cost and design ben...
