Android Studio builds in LTE emulation for Nougat....

Layout Editor, cache and emulation

Features include a new Layout Editor and Layout Inspector, a new Assistant window to help integrate Firebase services into your app, a new APK Analyzer tool and an Espresso Test Recorder tool (currently in beta) to help create UI tests by recording your own interactions.
There also new build cache, intended to speed up build performance, a new Samples Browser so you can easily look up Google Android sample code from within Android Studio, and a new Merged Manifest Viewer.
Finally, there are also extra Android Emulator features (signal strength controls, an LTE option for Network type, and simulated vertical swipes).

Specification

As is the way with model modern IDEs, it’s a big beast. With installation requiring 2GB of RAM (minimum, with 8GB RAM recommended), it takes 2GB of disk storage (minimum, 4GB recommended).
It can run on:
  • Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit)
  • Mac OS X 10.8.5 or higher, up to 10.11.4 (El Capitan)
  • GNOME or KDE desktop – Tested on Ubuntu 12.04, Precise Pangolin (64-bit distribution capable of running 32-bit applications)
This is a point release. The last major version, 2.0, was released in April 2016. It featured Instant Run functionality and improved emulation support.

On the subject of android development, Google has also announced it’s about to release (later this month, to not be precise) an open Developer Preview of Android “Nougat”. It’s actually for version 7.1, including new new features, “from platform Daydream VR support and A/B system updates to app shortcuts and image keyboard support”.
