find vehicle registration details by APP(Car Info Vehicle Registration)

Image
Car Info Vehicle Registration Finding the details of an errant driver on the road is a pain, but a new app aims to make the process easier. Named 'car Info Vehicle Registration', the app can be used to find the details of all types of vehicles registered with the Regional Transport Office of India (RTO India), including cars, motorcycles, autos, trucks, etc. After entering the registration number of the vehicle, you can find details such as the owner's name, date and city of registration, vehicle class, make & model, age, fuel type, engine number, and chassis number. The data is seemingly extracted from public records; however, the easy availability of the engine and chassis number may be a cause of concern for some. There is no associated address or phone number on the app.

Ocean Cleanup(new way)

Image
How We Showed the Oceans Could Clean Themselves - Boyan Slat on The Ocean Cleanup This is an interesting talk on an important topic: cleaning up plastic in the ocean. ,a student from the Netherlands, looked to find a solution to a problem others said couldn’t be solved. This is exactly the type of wonderful activity that inspired people can accomplish using science and engineering. He collected an understanding of the 50 issues that supposedly makes a solution impossible. After getting funding (sparked by an explosion of viral Social Media) he worked on exploring the “insolvable” problems (having withdrawn from school to work on this problem). It is wonderful to see what we can do when inspired people use science and engineering to make the world a better place. From their website,  The Ocean Cleanup

ADI buys deterministic Ethernet chip firm

Image
Analog Devices has moved into the market for real-time Ethernet with the acquisition of US-based firm Innovasic, which has developed interface chips for deterministic Ethernet. Analog Devices has moved into the market for real-time Ethernet with the acquisition of US-based firm Innovasic, which has developed interface chips for deterministic Ethernet. Seen as a high speed alternative to the serial fieldbus networking protocol in  factory automation, robotics and industrial IoT, real-time Ethernet is the focus of a new standards push for robust, synchronised networks. The IEEE has recognised that new standards will be required to enable Ethernet to meet the determinism demands for these emerging applications and is developing the new Time Sensitive Networks (TSN) standards. Innovasic has been playing a role in addressing some of the early requirements of these new IEEE TSN standards. A deterministic Ethernet protocol could have cost and design ben...

Engineering student in Limca Book of Records

Hyderabad: A city-based electrical engineering student has entered into the Limca Book of Records for having the most number of International research publications to her credit as an undergraduate researcher. 20-year-old V P Divya, a B Tech student of Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, has published 16 national and international research publications and seven more are in the pipeline. Speaking to reporters, V V R Murthy from Limca Book of Records said Limca does not have a category for such a record. She will be the first to register such a record. The young researcher is working in areas such as the demand side management wherein the power to industries and domestic users can be balanced and minimise power shortages. Contemporary areas of concern in the field such as management of power during peak seasons and restoring power very fast during certain failures are also covered by her. Divya also did research papers on improvisation of domestic appl...

A tiny machine: Infinitesimal computing deviceElectrical, computer engineers design an infinitesimal computing device

Electrical and computer engineers have developed a design for a functional nanoscale computing device. The concept involves a dense, three-dimensional circuit operating on an unconventional type of logic that could, theoretically, be packed into a block no bigger than 50 nanometers on any side. FULL STORY: In 1959 physicist Richard Feynman, in his talk "Plenty of Room at the Bottom," spoke of a future in which tiny machines could perform huge feats. Like many forward-looking concepts, his molecule and atom-sized world remained for years in the realm of science fiction. And then, scientists and other creative thinkers began to realize Feynman's nanotechnological visions. In the spirit of Feynman's insight, and in response to the challenges he issued as a way to inspire scientific and engineering creativity, electrical and computer engineers at UC Santa Barbara have developed a design for a functional nanoscale computing device. The concept involves a dense, t...

Every now and then we hear car manufacturers tell us about the research and development that they do when it comes to making cars according to their customer's needs. But an engineering college in Mangaluru, thought long and hard, put together their travel experiences and then decided to make a car for the common man. A car that will not only be affordable but also be a substitute for those wanting to upgrade from a bike; and that's what they strived at. According to Professor Rounaq Ahmed, "There's sunshine for 6 months here in Mangaluru and it rains the other 6; and most of the people here travel on bikes, which during the rains can be extremely dangerous, which is why we came out with this idea." The 'we' includes some students pursuing Mechanical Engineering and professors who guided in their pursuit to make a car for the common man. Well, the idea was a simple one; a tried and tested one at that; taking the engine from a bike and making a ...

Engineering College in Gujarat(Amiraj) Builds Autonomous Car in 28 Days

Image
The car, as one can see, was not built from scratch; so technically it's just a kit that they attached to a  Hyundai i10 . There is no particular reason why they chose the i10. He quips, "We needed a guinea pig and it was available." The car comes equipped with high-range cameras and sensors, all of which are readily available in the market, for object detection. The sensors, placed all over the car, detect movement and consequently, help the car decide suitable course of action, i.e. to brake or to accelerate. The sensors used on this car can detect objects within the range of 2 - 4 feet. The team believes the aforementioned range isn't enough, and are, thus, trying to extend the range to 10 feet in order to make it safer and better. The total equipment for the car cost around ₹ 2 lakh, and needs 3G connectivity, which, in the current scenario, is a bit dicey, even in the metro cities. "Infrastructure is the main reason why the entry of the autonomous ...

Smart Glove

Image
BENGALURU :    Students   of an engineering school here have developed a 'smart glove' called MUDRA which converts hand gestures based on Indian sign language into spoken English, potentially paving the way for speech-impaired individuals to communicate   more   effectively with others. The feat was achieved by a team of four  B.Tech students  - Abhijith Bhaskaran, Anoop G Nair, Deepak Ram and Krishnan Ananthanarayanan at Amrita School of Engineering's Amrita Robotics Research Lab (ARRL) at the Bengaluru campus. HR Nandi Vardhan, who mentored the students, said the glove is designed to convert hand gestures in Indian sign language to voice. "Though this is our initial focus, the glove is multi-purpose and versatile. It can be reprogrammed for a range of applications in which motion-sensor technology plays an important role, such as gaming stations, virtual reality, remote control of devices, and the robotics and medical indust...
